In a huff……….

June 7, 2009

I was in the grocery store yesterday and had a shopping cart full of junk very useful items that I very much needed wanted. I was wheeling my overloaded cart to the checkout counter and was cut-off by a fellow shopper. It felt like I was in the roller derby of shopping carts. Knee pads and helmets recommended. Shopper “x” was apparently in a hurry. Hmpf.

Seriously, she saw me going for the line. She pushed her cart faster just to beat me. Hmpf. Her son looked a little nervous – he knew what his mother had done. He was not exactly hoping for a mommy brawl in the check out line. Hmpf.

To brawl or not to brawl? I decided to not say a thing. Grand scheme of things and all that jazz. So, I start unloading my cart in another line (without even mumbling at her under my breath) and noticed that she has put items back in her cart and was moving to another line. Really, that is just unnecessary. You basically push me out of the way, just to move to another line? Seriously? Hmpf. At least that is what I thought until I looked up at the sign above her lane – 12 items or less.

Karma is alive and well.

Wow, around here you never see anyone get back out of the express lane. Most people don’t think the rules apply to them. Especially at Walmart. People with carts full go into the express lanes all the time and don’t get turned away. What’s the point?

Now see, that would never happen in India. I mean, even people with 54 items would stand in a queue that says “5 items or fewer” and they’d get billed and be on their merry way. Your karma is not going to have it so easy in this country. ๐Ÿ˜€

I’m learning, painfully slowly, to let these things go. I try not to LOOK for an up close parking space, it won’t hurt me to walk the few extra feet. And as for lines, well, I seem to always pick the ones with the slowest clerks so I try to slow down too. BUT, it always seems to be OTHER people that can mess up your day. Rudness is rampant in this country. As for Karma being alive and well, Then I must have really messed up when I was not looking because the last month and a half has been a roller coaster of bad Karma kinda stuff. Vacation from He double toothpicks, car wreck, law suit, insurance company, Kitchen flooded, ANother insurance company. I’m glad God has a plan because I would have run off the road weeks ago.

gorigadhaa – SUV’s rock – rudeness is just unacceptable.

Lola – I would not cut in front of you – but I will remember the accidental cart bump for future reference. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

People are so rude!! The last time a woman did that to me, I “accidentally” crashed into her. Made me feel much better when she turned around to scream at me, and I said, “Oh, so sorry. I didn’t see you coming when you cut in front of me.” She decided not to brawl and moved to another line.

Gah. Entitlement here at home is getting out of control. Not sure where in the country you are, but here on the Left Coast it’s like everyone has become emotionally 2 years old. It’s all about, “Me, now! That’s mine! Out of my way!”

Thing is, people know they’re doing it, because if you call them on it (which I usually do when they’re really over the boundary) they get angry and defensive.

I had some guy try to push in front of me and another car at the gas pump and I wouldn’t let him (sometimes I can use the SUV to advantage). He started cursing me out and saying all this racist crap. “that’s why nobody likes you white people!” He was Latino. I just told him to can the racist crap and all the black people around started laughing at him and he shut up and went to another pump.

It’s really annoying. My mother raised me better than that and it really gets on my nerves that everyone is so inconsiderate these days.
